"Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet
and a light unto my path." --Psalm 119:105

"The Law of his God is in his heart:
his steps do not slip." --Psalm 37:31

Light My Way

slippery roads in darkness
I long to find the way
unlit paths of hidden dangers
traps and snares and open pits

mountain cliffs of icy glaciers
I blindly try to climb
no grip for hands
no place for feet
and jagged rocks below

confusing avenues stretch before me
I long to know which one to choose
no map at hand to show me
no helpful guide along the way

please be the God of all my searching
the One who turns my night to day
my strength, my hope, my light in darkness
the guardian of my way

keep my feet on solid places
and fill my mind so I can see
plant your word into my thinking
and your law into my heart
